After Workout Drink
Where Nature Meets Science.
All WORKOUT™ brand products are proudly powered by TheaFit™, our high potency theaflavin enriched black tea extract that is patented and clinically proven to improve exercise performance and reduce recovery time.
What are theaflavins?
Naturally formed from the oxidation of tea leaves, theaflavins have been shown to have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as supporting liver health, blood lipids, and the immune system.
The effects of a high potency theaflavin enriched black tea extract on delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), oxidative stress and inflammation were originally studied at Rutgers University, led by well known sports scientist Dr. Shawn Arent.
Research consisted of double-blind, placebo controlled, cross-over studies which are considered the gold-standard of human clinical trials and widely trusted as the most objective and rigorous science. Theafit was shown to produce significantly higher peak power output, reduce oxidative stress, lower cortisol levels, minimize delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and reduce inflammation.
Two US patents were issued for improved exercise performance and reduced recovery time. The results of the clinical trials were published in the peer-reviewed Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition in 2010.
The more you know
“One of the keys to continued progress with training is the ability to recover quicker not only within a workout, but also from session to session. One limiting factor in that is the development of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), which is often associated with reduced power. Unfortunately, some of the things that can be a part of developing DOMS also happen to be responses that are an important part of long-term adaptation. Solutions like taking NSAIDs wind up potentially impairing progress. That’s one of the things that made the research findings for the high-potency black tea extract (TheaFit™) so unique – these “necessary” responses were still able to occur, but the recovery from them was significantly faster. This resulted in not only greater performance within the interval session, but also less soreness 24 and 48 hours later. Subjects were able to do more work with less physiological stress and with faster recovery.”
